Usual pub grub, nice though, couple of nice local ales, best part is the lovely staff, not patronising but genuinely welcoming. That alone would bring you back.

Really friendly local pub in Bowness with plenty of eating space and seating out the front in good weather. Classic pub fayre. Generous portions and varying pies of the day. Visited mid week off peak and it was quiet. But Bowness is popular so you might want to book in full season. Kaylar served us and she was really lovely and attentive as was her colleague with the cool plaited beard.

We ate lunch here while visiting windermere. The staff are very friendly, especially Stacey, her customer service was outstanding. She was warm, friendly, and very outgoing. Gave us some great advice on things to do in the surrounding area. The food was outstanding. I would highly recommend this place.

Just spent 3 very lovely days in Bowness and this was the first place we visited for a quick lunch when we arrived. It wasn't a great experience but thankfully was the only part of our trip where we found food mediocre/ok and service lacking and downright rude. We are always very polite in restaurants and bars - frankly those working in hospitality deserve a bloody medal. As children of a cleaner, a coach builder and a toothpaste maker we have no sense of entitlement whatsoever! It was therefore somewhat surprising to receive service like we did in response to a very polite request. Whoever hired the man with the beard decoration (who I suspect is the same delightful individual other reviews refer to and who 'served' us) really needed to check that he wanted to work in hospitality where you kind of need to speak to people in a way that is polite and patient unless of course there is good reason not to. The rest of the staff were lovely - courteous and friendly but this man really needs to find another more satisfying vocation in life because customer service is clearly not it. Thankfully that was the only part of our trip where we had any reason to complain, all our other meals and experiences were fantastic.

Good enough. Great pint, treats for the dog, wifi for the kids and the wife was smiling after a large Malbec. Happy days.

Waiting to be seated had a group push in front of us, then was ignored by staff in favour of another larger group even after getting their attention.

Whenever we are in Windermere, we always stop iff here. It's a lovely pub. The atmosphere is always very warm and welcoming. Staff are really friendly and helpful. The food is AMAZING! Drinks are reasonably priced. Dog friendly. Seating outside for when it's nicer weather. Toilets spotless clean. Open fire. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

My wife and I walked in and were met by a member of staff in the middle of a phone call (absolutely fine), however, what would have been the courteous response from the particular individual would have been to acknowledge that he had customers and either finish the call or tell us he would be with us as soon as he could! Neither happened, in fact, said individual turned his back and ignored us. We promptly left and spent our money in a more deserving establishment.

Great pub good staff food was good I had pie of the day with mash peas and gravy such a shame you only get a tiny portion so disappointing not worth what it costs how much does a bit of peas and mash cost it felt like a kids portion at an adult price there was about a spoon full of peas in a tiny pot and a tiny pot of gravy to go with the spoon full of mash would have given 5 stars if it was a decent amount of food

Not the best menu out there. But Great staff. The moist chicken was the opposite unfortunately. Almost burnt to a crisp

Good ale, food a bit hit and miss. Pie was hot, mash and gravy cold. Steak baguette was tough and served cold.

Had a cracking Sunday roast at The Flying Pig in Bowness-on-Windermere, and Stacey was absolutely brilliant! She couldn’t have been more friendly or on the ball. The roast was spot on, and the sticky toffee pudding? Honestly, out of this world. Best I’ve ever had. Can’t recommend it enough!
